Mardi Gras is Social Media

February 13, 2012 | Posted by Burke Ingraffia

I think New Orleans had a grasp of social media way before the Internet came around. Think about a Mardi Gras parade—it’s not unlike a Facebook wall stream with floats passing by like status posts, people yelling out their comments and likes in various forms of laughter. They might even start a new thread with the strangers standing around them or a retweet with those following behind in the crowd.
