Facebook Pages Gets a Facelift

February 10, 2011 | Posted by Andy Kutcher

Facebook got yet another round of work done recently. In case you aren’t on the the ‘book as often as we are, or on the off chance that you live under a rock and you haven’t heard, Facebook recently changed the layout and look of official pages. Official brand and company pages will now look and feel similar to individual profiles. On the surface: photos on top, info and tabs on the left, wall front and center.

Here’s what else Facebook did for pages: increased communication privileges. To be frank, I about died I was so excited about this add-on. This is something I’ve been waiting for since I was just a mere college student running the University Facebook Page. Facebook now allows for pages to interact with other pages as individuals. I can choose to use Facebook as FSC Interactive or as Andy Kutcher. As FSC Interactive I can only engage with pages that I’ve added. I can’t write on an individual’s wall and I can’t poke you. Phew!

Before now, most companies that were B2B didn’t use Facebook because their audience wasn’t on Facebook.  This will create overall quicker growth in community for pages. The likelihood that an individual will now see your page on another page is far higher and if you’re engaging with the right pages then you’re being exposed to a far wider and qualified crowd.

We’re confident this isn’t the last of the Facebook changes, but for now we’re happy with them. What do you think about the new look of Pages?
